B A L D U R S G A T E Tales of the Sword Coast Chronicles Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles is a persistent, online roleplaying world. It is accessed through Obsidian Entertainment's Neverwinter Nights 2 video game, published by Atari, Inc. The game client utilizes the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS 3.5 ruleset, and Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles (hereafter shortened to "BG:TSCC") is set in the FORGOTTEN REALMS campaign setting. BG:TSCC was established in 2008. It continues to support an active community of players and developers from all over the world. There are over 325 area maps for players to explore on BG:TSCC - with quests, treasures, traps, colorful NPCs, and, of course, monsters throughout. The server itself is managed by many staff members, and serves hundreds of players each year. The BG:TSCC Mission The mission of BG:TSCC is to provide for its players a persistent, reactive, roleplaying world: An interactive world where players can develop collaborative stories and establish friendships. In meeting this mission, it is critical the server remains both safe and engaging for all players. Persistent means that what happens in one year carries over to the next year. Everything that occurs in game becomes a part of the collaborative story. Reactive means that players can directly affect the story with their actions or inaction. Roleplaying means that players are able to create fictional characters and create through them interesting personae with which to engage the game world. And safe means that they are able to do all of this in an open, tolerant space free from the toxicity so prevalent in many other gaming communities. The BG:TSCC Vision The vision for BG:TSCC is that the server will continue to provide for its players an experience they can find nowhere else, and that the server retain its ability to compete with newer, flashier games by virtue of the quality of its content and the substantive nature of its community. BG:TSCC's Values BG:TSCC values transparency, communication, and inclusiveness. More than anything, the community values itself as a community: A place for like-minded people together. Regarding transparency, the staff of BG:TSCC should do all that they can to keep players apprised of developments and content changes, game world rules and regulations, and standard staff operating procedures, so that players are able to manage their gameplay effectively and ask informed questions. Communication should be managed at all levels, both within staff and between staff and players. Information should not be hoarded and records of decisions should be kept. Inclusiveness means acknowledging that every community stakeholder is individually and collectively important, then striving to ensure that they are included in the community. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Forum : bgtscc.net Interact with the community directly through a comprehensive message board, including guilds, factions, DMs, and more.
